Radikal Nachtigall

Our group organised a choir festival and invited 16 choirs from europe. Every choir could send a song. The two of us took over to create the song book.

Small to be easily carried, cheap (choirs don’t have money), easy to read but also emotional, mystical, vivid. A gathering of so many different people to learn and sing songs needs something special.

Original text and starting notes on one sheet. They’re black on light Paper to be easily readable. Background information and translation on black background to make the separation of content types and between the different songs easier. The books are made so that multiple people can use it quickly in dim light.

We came up with a pretty strict layout that left room for tiny side informations and small but strong illustrations.
